01

Product precision

Precision Is Built Into the Approval Chain

Part interfaces, assembly direction, visible surfaces, gate locations and the criteria for acceptable fit are reviewed before tooling and translated into sample and production checks.

● Critical interface review
● Tool and trial-part approval
● Fit, appearance and completeness checks
02

Project experience

Regular Experience With Japanese Customers

FigCrafts has supported many custom product programs and works regularly with Japanese customers. That experience strengthens drawing discipline, change control, sample sign-off and packaging completeness.

Customer identities and protected project assets are only published when authorization permits.

03

Coordinated delivery

One Accountable Route From Brief to Pack-Out

Engineering, prototyping, tooling, injection, decoration, inspection and final pack-out are managed as one project plan. Instructions, printed packaging, inserts, testing or logistics can be coordinated with established providers when required.

Choose by final use

When a Plastic Model Kit Route Fits the Project

The defining question is not simply which plastic to use. It is whether the buyer needs an organized set of molded parts that the end user assembles through a controlled sequence.

The finished product is the complete system, not one molded part.

Representative smartphone-style visualization showing how sprues, assembly, instructions and protective pack-out must agree.

01 / Assembly

Customer-Assembled Products

Parts remain organized on runners or sprues until the customer follows the defined assembly method.

02 / Architecture

Multi-Part Character or Display Kits

Authorized character, mechanical, vehicle or display concepts that require planned part separation and interfaces.

03 / Color

Color-Separated Kit Systems

Programs where molded colors, clear parts, decoration, decals or other visual layers must be organized deliberately.

04 / Release

Instruction-Led Retail Pack-Out

Every runner, loose component, instruction, printed item and package component must arrive in the correct configuration.

A model kit is a system, not only a set of molded parts.

The product is incomplete until part numbering, assembly sequence, instructions, protective packing and SKU configuration agree with the approved build.

Precision-led engineering

Control the Interfaces Before Tooling Locks the Kit

High precision is not a decorative claim. It is the result of defining what must fit, what may move, what must remain aligned and how those requirements will be approved and inspected.

01

Reference Geometry

Identify the dimensions, datums and visible relationships that the approved product must preserve.

02

Part Split and Tool Access

Divide parts around molding, release, assembly, surface appearance and the final customer build sequence.

03

Fit and Clearance

Define critical pegs, sockets, keys, tabs, hinges or mating surfaces according to intended assembly behavior.

04

Gates and Cosmetic Surfaces

Review where material enters each part and where trimming or gate evidence may affect visible surfaces.

05

Runner and Color Logic

Group parts around tooling feasibility, material behavior, molded color, production control and pack-out needs.

06

Sample and Production Checks

Convert the approved build into fit, appearance, runner, quantity and completeness checkpoints.

Material logic

Materials Follow Part Function and Assembly Behavior

A material name alone does not define a reliable model kit. Selection is confirmed by part function, interface behavior, appearance, production method and applicable testing requirements.

Quality at kit level

Inspect the Build and the Completeness of the Box

A visually acceptable part can still fail the product if it does not fit, appears on the wrong runner, is missing from the BOM or reaches the wrong SKU pack-out.

Commercial and engineering questions

Resolve the Product Boundary Before Tooling

These answers define the normal review route without replacing the approved drawings, quality plan or project agreement.

What files should we send for a model kit review?

Send the authorized artwork or 3D files available, assembled size, quantity, target market, reference build, known part or runner plan, assembly method, colors, decoration, instructions, packaging and schedule. Missing items can be identified during the initial review.

Can you develop snap-fit and glue-assembled kits?

Both routes can be reviewed. The suitable construction depends on geometry, part size, interface behavior, material direction, user assembly expectations, appearance and the approved production method.

What is the typical MOQ for injection production?

A typical injection production MOQ is 500–1,000 units after engineering review. The confirmed quantity depends on the part and tooling scope, material, runner and color plan, decoration, SKU split, packaging and the quantity per version.

Can a model kit use different colors, clear parts or functional materials?

Yes, when the approved product and production route support them. Runner grouping and material selection are confirmed by part function, interface behavior, appearance, tooling, production control, packaging and applicable testing requirements.

Can you support instructions, decals and retail packaging?

Yes. FigCrafts can coordinate the instruction, printed component, decal, label, tray, box and carton requirements as part of the approved pack-out plan. Partner-produced components are identified within the project scope, and final assembly, inspection and pack-out can be completed on-site.

How do you control high-precision fit?

Critical interfaces are defined through the product geometry, function, material behavior and assembly method, then reviewed through engineering, tooling, trial parts, approved samples and production inspection. Numerical tolerances are confirmed for the specific project rather than published as a universal promise.

Do you have experience with Japanese customers?

Yes. FigCrafts has regular experience supporting Japanese customer programs and other international custom manufacturing projects. Customer names, protected designs and project images are only published when the necessary authorization is available.

Can we sign an NDA, and how are tooling terms handled?

NDA support is available before detailed file exchange. Tooling ownership, storage, maintenance, use and transfer terms are confirmed in the project agreement before tooling begins. Customer-funded tooling arrangements are documented as part of the approved commercial scope.

What affects the project timeline?

The schedule depends on the starting file quality, part count, assembly complexity, prototype route, tooling scope, runner and color plan, sample revisions, decoration, instructions, SKU count, packaging readiness, testing and approval response time. A project schedule is prepared after the route and approval gates are defined.

Can you support market-specific testing?

Testing can be coordinated according to the product, materials, age grading, target market and agreed test scope. EN 71, ASTM F963, CPSIA, REACH or another standard is not presented as a universal compliance claim for every model kit.
